Manuscript dateline "1st month 22nd day", or Meiji 6.1.22 (22 January 1873). Position 26 shows the retouched right dragon variety (JSCA 3v-1-26).

A scarce and desirable variety cover, combining a plated retouch with an attractive provincial fancy cancel.
